How we handle your data

My Homework (the “App”) is an iPhone application for parents and students to record and share school homework. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is stored, and your choices. We do not operate our own backend servers for the core features of the App.

1. Information the App processes

Depending on how you use the App, it may process:

  • Homework records: dates, subjects, task titles, notes, completion status, and sort order you enter or confirm after pasting text.
  • Attachments: photos or files you attach to homework days or tasks, stored on your device and optionally in your iCloud account when sync is enabled.
  • Subjects and settings: custom subject names, colors, default scores, role (parent or student), and other preferences saved locally.
  • Pasted text: content you copy from messaging apps (such as WeChat group messages) solely to parse and create homework entries inside the App.

2. Local storage and iCloud / CloudKit

By default, your homework data is stored on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device storage. If you sign in to iCloud and use CloudKit sync or family sharing in the App, related data may sync between your devices or with participants you invite through Apple’s CloudKit sharing, subject to Apple’s iCloud terms and security practices. We cannot access your Apple ID password or the contents of your private iCloud account.

3. Family sharing between parent and student

When a parent shares homework with a student, Apple’s CloudKit share invitation flow is used. Only people you invite can access the shared homework zone. Accepting or declining an invitation is handled by Apple’s system UI. We do not receive your messages or contacts; sharing is initiated from your device.

4. Widgets

If you add the Home Screen widget, it displays a limited summary of homework data from storage Apple provides for the App and its widget extension (such as today’s tasks). Widget data stays on your device and in your iCloud sync scope when enabled.

5. Analytics, advertising, and sale of data

The App is not designed to show third-party advertising. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use an independent analytics SDK to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.

6. Children, parents, and schools

The App is intended for parents and students to manage homework on devices they control. The adult who owns the device and Apple account is responsible for invitations, sharing, and what information is entered. The App is not a school-managed system and does not replace official school platforms.

7. Your choices

  • You can edit or delete homework, subjects, and attachments inside the App where supported.
  • You can stop sharing or leave a CloudKit share through the App or iOS settings.
  • You can sign out of iCloud or disable sync for the App in system settings.
  • Uninstalling the App removes its local data from the device; data already in iCloud follows Apple’s sync and deletion behavior for your account.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date below will be revised accordingly.
